School-Age Program
Hours of Operation: 7:00 AM- 6:00 PM
Rainbow Rising is a before and after school program on site at Bonita Canyon Elementary School. We offer Summer, Winter, and Spring Camps which include weekly excursions into the surrounding communities.
Here at Bonita Canyon Rainbow Rising we strive to create an enriching environment where children learn and grow through well-rounded indoor and outdoor activities. Our staff works closely together to ensure quality care, open communication with children and parents, and dedication to create a continuing positive experience for your child.
We provide the children with many different opportunities to learn and grow including:
- Homework help, which is supported and improved by the close relations maintained between Rainbow and the school faculty and administration.
- Weekly hikes meant to build confidence and foster a relationship with the surrounding nature.
- On site karate classes provided by skilled instructors who make learning new skills fun.
It is our goal for every child to learn, develop essential social and communication skills, and most of all... have fun!

I am credentialed through the state of California to be a Site Supervisor. I have 15 years experience working with children and 7 years directing and managing child care programs. My program addresses the whole child. I believe that parents, school, and child care need to work together to meet all of the children's needs. My program will ensure that each of these needs are met.

I have been at Bonita Canyon since September of 2006. I have a Bachelor of Science in Child Development from Cal State Fullerton. I enjoy providing children with a healthy happy environment in which they can grow to their full potential. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and being outdoors.
Alex Birkelbach

I started at Rainbow Rising in January of 2007. I’m currently in the process of finishing my AA at Orange Coast College and hope to transfer to a Cal-State. I enjoy traveling, staying active, and promoting healthy activities for the kids so they can start developing positive lifelong habits.

I have been a teacher at Bonita Canyon since February of 2009. I have an AA degree from Irvine Valley College and hope to soon attend Cal State Fullerton to pursue a Bachelors in Psychology. I love working with children, they are constantly putting a smile on my face. Outside of work I like hanging out with my friends, dancing, and spending time with my family.
Jasmine Hwang

I started working at Bonita Canyon in August of 2011. I graduated from the University of California Irvine with a B.A in Psychology and Social Behavior. I have worked with children both in a school age and preschool setting. I am so happy to return to Rainbow Rising as a teacher, especially since I had a great time here as a child.
