Families Forward Thanksgiving 18

In 2018, Families Forward continues to support families in Orange County. Rainbow Rising is fortunate to lend our support on a special day where families are able to not only receive traditional Thanksgiving fixings to cook a meal at home but also receive other various services.

While parents pick up their baskets, their children participate in fun-filled activities such as face painting and arts & crafts. With community support, Families Forward is able to provide nearly 900 families with a special holiday meal to share with their loved ones.

Walk to Defeat ALS

At this year’s Walk to Defeat ALS, Rainbow Rising raised $ 965 and had a total of 59 participants walking!

The ALS Association Orange County raised $245,000 in total at this year’s walk!

In honor of Dave Ronningen, Rainbow Rising participates in an annual fundraiser for The ALS Association Orange County Chapter. Dave is the late father of our Assistant Director at RR Meadow Park, Hailee Ronningen. We are proud and honored to support Hailee and her Family.

Through this fundraiser, the children collect spare change for their teams to see who can bring in the most money. Along with the fundraiser, we do weekly activities to learn more about what ALS means and how to keep our bodies healthy and happy.  All donations go to ALS support groups, patient and family services and their equipment loan program for families who struggle financially.  Equipment such as hospital beds, power wheelchairs, scooters, canes, walkers, seat bench’s, manual wheelchairs, companion wheelchairs, ramps, grab bars for toilets, air mattresses and power lifts.

Read for the Record 2018

On October 25th, 2018 Rainbow Rising participated Jumpstart's 13th annual Read for the Record Campaign. This annual campaign was launched over a decade ago to celebrate the importance of building early literacy and language skills for all children across the United States. On Thursday, October 25th, all Rainbow Rising centers gathered and read this year's campaign book Maybe Something Beautiful by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell. Together, Rainbow Rising read to a total of 1,193 children!

Families Forward Back to School Supply Donation

This summer the children, staff and families of Rainbow Rising participated in Families Forward Back to School Supply Donation Drive. The children raised money by participating in bake sales and lemonade stands to purchase school supplies to be donated. Rainbow Rising was able to donate more than 100 backpacks and 100’s of supplies to the families in need in Irvine. Thank you to the Rainbow families for their support in this important effort for our community!

Rainbow Rising Portola Springs Beach Clean Up

The students, families and staff of Portola Springs Rainbow Rising participated in a beach clean-up this September at Newport Beach. This student led clean-up was a great success. The children were able to see the direct impact of their efforts as they cleaned up an essential part of our beautiful community. Way to go Portola Springs!

Paws Fur Pink Walk

The Rainbow Rising team and our puppies got together for the Paws Fur Pink Walk in order to fight Breast Cancer. Located in Orange County and San Diego, this annual event is a great chance for us to bring our furry friends to meet new friends and support a great cause.
